My next gadget
Monday, April 25, 2011 at 8:44PM A few things I would like to be included in my next gadget.
As a mobile device gadget, it needs to have:
LTE/4G mobile service capability - Full speed otherwise no point
Battery life to at least get through a full day ~10 hours
IPv6 - A given but best to make sure
I think that the front runner would have to be the next iPhone. Ive invested in the app ecosystem, and the integraton with the iPad has made the switch between the two devices and form factors seamless. Apple has done a great job with driving features, interation and expansion in apps and services.
Its a defininte if it has LTE.

Very bad of me to leave a post half finished. I did not mean to publish. Turns out I went and got an iPhone 4. Not so happy with this upgrade. It has been much less stable than the others. THe killer feature has been Wifi Hotspot. It is annoying how I have to go into the hotspot page to actually enable a connection on devices that have it listed as a wifi connection, but that aside, it is a very useful feature.
I have upgraded my iPhone4 and iPad(1) to IOS5. My iPad is suffering from some sort of lag, and not much has really changed. However, the biggest improvement by far, on the iPhone is the notification service. That is so much of an improvement over what was there before, it alone is worth the upgrade.
I did not experience pain as others did with the upgrade, but I think that was largely due to traffic volume on the initial release. I will be trying out other features such as Wifi Sync and iCloud integration in the not too distant future, so may have more to say about that.
That's all I have for now.
